Who: Adults aged 18 and older desiring to read the novels of Jane Austen with others, seeking insights on life, love, honor, and duty.
What: A series of successive 2-hour weekly sessions where fellows are selected to read a specific character’s lines and taking turns as narrator followed by a brief guided discussion. Fellows will collectively read aloud one or more chapters in one 2-hour session. No reading is required ahead of the sessions.
Where: A residential home in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The exact address within the zip code listed during registration will be emailed to you after registration. Sufficient, free off-street or on-street parking will be provided by the host.
Why: The enemies of human flourishing seek to divide and isolate us. Although we have great works of philosophy, theology, and literature at our closest touch-screen, how often do we enter into these treasures of the past alone? BetterPears seeks to connect adult learners, fellows along this journey of discovery and awakening, through scheduled sessions in a warm, home atmosphere, among good or soon-to-be friends, with pleasing food and a knowledgeable guide.
How: Register today by selecting an upcoming fellowship above and starting a BetterPears account. Through your BetterPears account, you can sign-up for fellowships, arrange to purchase a text should you not have one, and view other upcoming in-person fellowships.
Some fellowships are designated Coffee, Tea, and Fresh Pear Service (CTP) and offer this drink service instead of the regular hors d’oeuvres at a reduced cost.
